Hotel History

The ribbon cutting and grand opening of The Fairmont Chicago took place December 8, 1987. Since joining the grand Fairmont Hotels & Resorts family, The Fairmont Chicago has earned a reputation as a glamorous and elegant locale to hold social and civic affairs. The Rita Hayworth gala, benefiting the Alzheimer's Association, is held annually here and has garnered national attention.

Since its inception, The Fairmont Chicago has been home to numerous dignitaries and celebrities alike. Babysitting
The Fairmont Chicago uses the services of American Childcare, a local bonded babysitting company in Chicago. American Childcare will provide your family with childcare support during the day, for those special evenings away, weekends and holidays.

Bell Staff
Bellmen are located at the Entry Pavillion and in the Main Lobby of the hotel. They will be happy to assist you with porterage and luggage storage.

Concierge
The Concierge is available 24 hours a day in the Main Lobby of the hotel. They can help you arrange dinner reservations and give you directions to major attractions.

Gift Shops
The hotel has a gift shop on the Lobby Level that is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Housekeeping
The Housekeeping staff is pleased to offer twice-daily maid service to ensure the best possible comfort to all our guests. They also handle all requests for lost and found items.

Internet Access, Wireless
Wireless Internet Access is available to The Fairmont Chicago guests in our Lobby Lounge. 

Laundry Services
Same-day laundry service and overnight shoe shine is available. Pressing service is offered 24-hours a day.

Parking

Pet Policy
Pets under 20 pounds are permitted in the hotel. The animal must be on a leash at all times and must not be left unattended in the room. Seeing-eye dogs are always welcome and exempt of charges.

Safety Deposit Boxes
Safety deposit boxes are available at the Front Desk at no extra charge.

Wheelchair Accessibility
There are rooms at the hotel which are specially adapted for physically challenged guests. These rooms feature wide doorways, lower door handles, lower light switches and grab bars in the bathroom.

Fairmont Cityview rooms are exceptionally spacious and furnishings are 'residential' in feeling - a mixture of contemporary and period styles and original artwork. All rooms have dressing rooms with large closets and full-length mirrors - the majority of rooms also have seating areas. Fairmont Cityview rooms have sweeping city views including the Chicago River and the Merchandise Mart. All rooms offer High Speed Internet access. The maximum occupancy of these rooms is three people.

The Fairmont Suite is none other than opulent and luxurious, tastefully appointed in fine, original artwork and beautiful decor. This grand suite, which has been occupied by numerous dignitaries and presidents both from home and abroad, offers guest dining room for six, an expansive living room, a mini piano, bar, fireplace, and marble bathroom with whirlpool. This suite is perfect for receptions for 50-75 people and must be reserved with the Sales & Catering Department.

Take I-90/94. Exit at Ohio Street. Proceed to the stoplight at Fairbanks. Turn right onto Fairbanks and proceed to stoplight at Lake Street. Turn right onto Lake Street and the Auto Lobby entrance is immediately on the right side of the street.
From Midway Airport (From I-55):
